In the race to improve student achievement, everyone needs to take a deep breath. It’s true that technology has taken a great leap forward and schools need to reflect that reality. It’s also true that we need to take a critical eye to our education systems and improve outcomes for all students. But in the rush to bring change to the classroom, are we helping or causing more chaos?
Anthony Salcito, VP Worldwide Education for Microsoft, will talk about why we need to slow down and think about how we can help affect meaningful change that leads to a better path for teaching and learning.
He’ll discuss:
- Why the word innovation has become overused;
- Why we need to get out of the implementation rut and focus first on pedagogy and best practices;
- Why we should listen to the educators – especially the resistant ones – about what works in the classroom; and
- Why content developers should get back to basics and the core values of education
